The first Mothers Quest Impact Circle – the beginning of an ongoing series of in-person, intimate gatherings, bringing together mothers around a particular topic/cause to learn together, share together and take action together – is scheduled for May 1st in San Francisco. And the first call to action will be to fight against Police Brutality for Anti-Racism and Police Accountability.

The Impact Circle represents the fulfillment of a commitment Julie Neale made in 2017 toward Anti-Racism and Police Brutality. Sparked initially by a conversation with Julie’s friend Jenjii Hysten about her trauma (as the mother of black boys and wife of a black husband fearing for their safety when they walk out the door,) and then pushed by video of Philando Castille’s death and the events in Charlottesville, Julie set out to inform herself with a series of podcast episodes, a Giving Tuesday fundraiser for Mothers Against Police Brutality, and a commitment to assemble a small group of mothers locally for dialogue and action.

For a while the date for this in-person event kept getting pushed out, but with the recent tragic shooting of Stephon Clark, it became clear the time is now. As Collette Flanagan, founder of Mothers Against Police Brutality says, “an insult to one mother is an insult to all mothers.” It’s time for more of us to circle together, and then rise up in our own unique ways and make a difference for Anti-Racism and Police Accountability.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1522952028272{padding-top: 15px !important;padding-bottom: 15px !important;}”]
